SUSTAIN OUR PIPELINE TO BLUE CAREERS
FOR NEW YORK CITY STUDENTS
Over the past 15 years, the New York Harbor School has relied on its donors and supporters to help create one of the most unique and effective educational models. We have found by giving our students hands on experience in real workforce situations through our seven Career and Technical Education certified programs, our students have a higher graduation rate than other metroplitian areas. We are proud to report that in our 2017-18 school year 82% of our students graduated on-time and 100% of those students are enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college, and 12 students have enrolled in SUNY Maritime.
Not only are we setting up our students for success in their education, but we are preparing them to enter the workforce with a high income potential. In 2016, the New York-New Jersey Port Industry generated 229,000 direct jobs and 400,000 total jobs in the 31-county NJ-NY-PA region around the Port, including 17,420 direct jobs, and 35,860 total jobs, in New York City and yet only 12% of these jobs went to NYC public school students.
